Marble tables can cost thousands of dollars, but now a clever Australian mum has made a replica marble side table on a budget using supplies from Bunnings Warehouse.
DIY enthusiast Jaharn Quinn, from Queensland, was 'lusting' over the popular style and shared how she made a cheaper alternative on Instagram.
Using MDF boards cut to size and nailed together, she painted the box black then used the $26.80 Dulux DuraMax Marble Effect Spray Paint to add the 'marble' look.
'I am constantly thinking about how you can make your dream home for less, I decided to give myself a challenge and see if I could make my own marble effect plinth,' Jaharn wrote on her Instagram page, Smorhome.

The end result was stunning and appeared to look exactly like a marble table - without the cost.
To create the side table, Jaharn picked up the supplies from her local Bunnings and had assistance from the staff to cut the MDF boards to the correct size.
Next, she built the table by making holes in the boards then drilling in the nails.
'Fill in the screws and any deeper gaps using multipurpose filler. Set aside to dry for at least three hours, or less if the day is hot and dry,' Jaharn wrote on her website.

She then painted the plinth using a black gloss paint, then left it to try and repeated this process three times.
Next, she applied the marble effect spray paint as per the instructions over the top to create the desired marble look.
'Try not to over spray otherwise it won't look natural. The spray paint dries really quickly too so after a few minutes, you'll have a beautiful Marble Effect Plinth!' she said.

To her surprise, Jaharn was shocked at how well the style turned out.

She recommended spraying the product from a 'good distance' to make it look as natural as possible.
The DIY impressed others online who praised Jaharn's creativity.
'I love this, it's brilliant,' one person wrote, another added: 'You just continue to blow me away!!'
For the top: you will need to mock assemble the four sides and take your measurement.
The sides: the plinth won't all be equal or a perfect square, rather you'll have something like 2 x sides 300mm and 2 x sides 310mm.
