With the return of Great British Bake Off on Channel 4, people with a sweet tooth may be able to spot their favourite treats in an episode of the baking show or find the courage to give baking a go.
Whether you’re a cheesecake lover or you’re mad about madeira cake, there’s plenty to choose from when it comes to cakes and desserts in the UK.
To determine the nation’s favourite desserts, experts at Jack and Beyond Personalised Cakes made a survey which asked 3,795 Brits their opinion to find out which are the most popular.
Jack and Beyond asked the participants from across the UK which dessert was their favourite from a list of 30.

The desserts were then ranked according to the survey results and each ones falls into one of the six tiers: (best to worst) God Tier, Top Tier, Good Tier, Mid, Tier, Low Tier and Worst Tier.

The God Tier sits at the top with the most popular desserts as voted for by the British public while the Worst Tier is home to the least popular desserts.
Classics apple crumble (371) and sticky toffee pudding (362) won a combined total of 733 votes and they were joined in the God Tier with red velvet cake, brownies and tiramisu.

Profiteroles, Victoria sponge, treacle tart, chocolate fudge cake and bread and butter pudding all found themselves in the top tier.
The good tier is home to some more classics – eton mess, cheesecake, eclairs, carrot cake and bakewell tart.
In the Mid Tier you’ll find English trifle alongside banoffee pie, chocolate mousse, mince pie and arctic roll.
Christmas pudding finds itself in the Low Tier and is joined by madeira cake, jam roly poly, marble cake and Swiss roll.
Fruit cake, angel cake, egg custard tarts, rice pudding and spotted dick, the dessert with the least amount of votes (9), all find themselves in the Worst Tier.
